Sky or Skybaby (a nickname her grandfather used to call her as a kid) grew up in the Bay Area. As a child, her father, a steel drummer, passed on his love of music and art to her by taking her to her first concert at age 6 to see De la soul and Das EFX and watching films like Wild Style. Through him she was introduced to the beautiful world of hip-hop and graffiti art. From seeing muraled walls in Haight Ashbury and the Mission district in San Francisco to local artists like GATS, the idea that art did not have to be confined to paper or canvas had been instilled from an early age. Also, her favorite artist growing up, MISS VAN, showed her that alternative art forms aren't limited to a single type of person. Today, Sky uses these principles to create artwork as a tattoo artist, with much of her current work inspired by the American and Japanese traditional tattoo style, surrealism and Ukiyo-e Artists.
